Abstract
Yield and cost in the production of AD flooring skirts from wood blocks of Hymenaea palustris and Dipteryx micrantha at the sawmilling plant administered by PEDICP in the native community of Santa Mercedes, Putumayo river, Loreto, Peru, were determined in this study. 766 blocks (24,32 m3) were resawed in 35 days (mean= 0,69 m3/day) using a portable horizontal resaw, then 3970 AD flooring skirts were obtained totalizing 15,73 m3 (mean= 0,45m3/day). Therefore, an average yield of 64,44% in AD flooring skirts and an average waste of 35,56% were obtained. The total cost per day when processing the wood blocks was USD 87,15 , where USD 11,61 are fixed costs and USD 75,54 are variable costs per working day. The cost per cubic meter of processed wood blocks is USD 126,30/m3, indicating a low profitability in the production of AD flooring skirts.
