Estrés y depresión en adolescentes de educación secundaria de la Institución Educativa Maynas Iquitos 2023

Abstract

The study was carried out with the objective of determining the relationship between stress and depression in adolescents in the fourth and fifth grade of secondary education at the Maynas Iquitos 2024 Educational Institution. The research is quantitative, non-experimental, cross-sectional, correlational, with a sample of 99 adolescents from 14 to 19 years old. The survey technique was used and the instruments were; scale of physical and psychoemotional indicators of stress and the Zung depression scale. The following results were obtained: 79.8% of the adolescents presented a low level of stress, 19.2% presented a medium stress level, and 1% had no stress. Regarding the levels of depression, 88.9% of students did not present depression, and 11.1 % presented mild depression level. To test the hypothesis, the non-parametric statistical test of Kendall's Tau B 0.274 t = 3.86, and contingency coefficient = 0.954, was applied, which shows statistical significance. Therefore, it is concluded that there is a significant statistical relationship between stress and depression (p=0.001; α < 0.05) in students of the Maynas Iquitos 2024 Educational Institution.

El estudio se llevó a cabo con el objetivo de determinar la relación entre el estrés y la depresión en adolescentes del cuarto y quinto grado de educación secundaria de la Institución Educativa Maynas Iquitos 2024. La investigación es de tipo cuantitativo, diseño no experimental, transversal, correlacional, con una muestra de 99 adolescentes de 14 a 19 años. Se utilizó la técnica de la encuesta y los instrumentos fueron; escala de indicadores físicos y psicoemocionales del estrés y la escala de depresión de Zung. Se obtuvo los siguientes resultados, el 79.8% de los adolescentes presentaron nivel de estrés bajo, el 19.2 % estrés medio, y el 1 % sin estrés, respecto a los niveles de depresión, el 88.9% de estudiantes no presentaron depresión, y el 11.1% presentaron nivel de depresión leve. Para comprobar la hipótesis se aplicó la prueba estadística no paramétrica de Tau B de Kendall 0.274 t = 3.86, y coeficiente de contingencia = 0.954, lo que evidencia significancia estadística. Por lo tanto, se concluye que, existe relación estadística significativa entre el estrés y la depresión (p=0.001; α < 0.05) en estudiantes de la Institución Educativa Maynas Iquitos 2024.
