The present investigation was carried out in Laboratories of Phytochemistry and Natural Products from chemical Engineering Faculty, the rhizomes were collected in Bora community at San Andrés Humlet near Nanay River, the purpose was to insulate the essential oil of Hedychium Coronarium Koening rhizomes (Flowers of Swamp) and determine its chemical compounds by High-resolution Gas chromatography HRGC-MS. The extraction of essential oil was carried out by using the Soxhlet Extractor and the analysis of chemical compounds was carried out by High-resolution Gas chromatography HRGC-MS and it was carried out at Cayetano Heredia Peruvian University. It was obtained ayield which results were 1.96% of essential oil from Hedychium Coronarium Koening rhizome (Flowers of Swamp). They were identified 18 components (12 known and 6 unknown): 4 monocyclic monoterpenes, 3 bicycle monoterpenes, 2 sesquiterpenes, 2 are from phenolic nature and one is an oilysubstance. The most important compound by abundance is: 1,8-Cineol (Eucalyptol) 32.88 %, then continues α-Terpineol 14.46 %, an unknown compound of empirical formula C20H13O2 11.67 %, β - pinene 8.70 % and 4 -Terpineol 6.08 %. Coming to the conclusion that the species is very promising for the high percentage of Eucalyptol, that is of medical importance in the treatment of acute bronchial infections, rhinitis, pharyngitis, laryngitis, in the treatment of varicose veins and hemorrhoids.
