The present study sought to corroborate the hypothesis of its initiators about the tradeoff between inflation and unemployment. We apply the study for Loreto corresponding to a time horizon of 14 years (2005 - 2018). Through a simple regression analysis and a robust regression with adaptive expectations, it was found that inflation maintains a positive relationship with unemployment. The Phillips curve shows a positive slope coinciding with studies carried out by different researchers in contrast to the seminal work of Phillips. The value of the applied bivariate regression slope shows a value of 1.68, which means that when unemployment rises by 1 pp, it causes inflation to rise by 1.68 pp. The study is statistically significant corrected for robust regression. The regression with adaptive expectations shows the same direction between inflation and unemployment, but not statistically significant. Theoretical foundations such as the existence of a minimum wage decreed by the Government as well as the natural rate of unemployment could support the behavior of the Phillips curve, in the case of the department of Loretoen_US
