Efecto de una intervención educativa en el nivel de conocimiento sobre el manejo inicial de pacientes politraumatizados en estudiantes de medicina, UNAP 2022

Abstract

Timely and adequate management of polytraumatized patients is essential to reduce the morbidity and mortality associated with this type of injury. However, there are often challenges in the healthcare system that can delay proper treatment and increase the risk of complications. An educational intervention for health personnel can improve the initial management of multiple trauma patients and referral to specialized care services. For this reason, the objective of this work is to determine the effect of implementing an educational intervention in increasing the level of knowledge about the initial management of polytraumatized patients in medical students, UNAP 2022. For this reason, a Longitudinal and Quasi- experimental, having as a sample 80 students. It was observed that the students were between 18 and 35 years of age and were mostly male (55.6%). Most of the students received prior training in first aid (71.6%) and approximately half received prior training in the initial management of multiple trauma patients (46.9%). 74.1% of the students presented an inadequate level of knowledge before the educational intervention, however, after the intervention, 95.1% obtained an adequate level of knowledge. Concluding that the increase in the level of knowledge is statistically significant (p<0.001).

El manejo oportuno y adecuado de pacientes politraumatizados es esencial para reducir la morbimortalidad asociada a este tipo de lesiones. Sin embargo, a menudo se presentan desafíos en el sistema de salud que pueden retrasar el tratamiento adecuado y aumentar el riesgo de complicaciones. Una intervención educativa para el personal de salud puede mejorar el manejo inicial de los pacientes politraumatizados y la derivación a los servicios de atención especializada. Por esta razón el objetivo de este trabajo es determinar el efecto de implementar una intervención educativa en el aumento del nivel de conocimiento sobre el manejo inicial de pacientes politraumatizados en estudiantes de medicina, UNAP 2022. Por tal motivo se desarrolló un estudio Longitudinal y Quasi-experimental, teniendo como muestra 80 estudiantes. Se observó que los estudiantes presentaron edades entre 18 y 35 años y género mayoritariamente masculino (55.6%). La mayoría de los estudiantes recibieron capacitación previa en primeros auxilios (71.6%) y aproximadamente la mitad recibió capacitación previa en el manejo inicial de pacientes politraumatizados (46.9%). El 74.1% de los estudiantes presentó un nivel de conocimiento inadecuado antes de la intervención educativa, sin embargo, después de la intervención, el 95.1% obtuvo un nivel de conocimiento adecuado. Concluyendo que el incremento en el nivel de conocimiento es estadísticamente significativo (p<0.001).
