Pulpitis aguda en pacientes adultos según sexo en el Centro de Salud I-4 San Juan de Miraflores

Abstract

OBJECTIVE: To establish the difference in acute pulpitis in adult patients according to sex at health center 1-4 San Juan de Miraflores. METHODS: A quantitative, non-experimental, comparative cross-sectional research was carried out. From a total population of 7500 patients, based on the 2023 care registry of the Dentistry office of the I-4 San Juan de Miraflores health center, a sample of 310 patients was taken, the sample calculation was obtained using the Epidat V4.1 program, the formula was used to calculate sample size for finite populations. A confidence level of 95%, a margin of error of 5% and an expected prevalence of 30.00% were used. RESULTS: It was found that 32.96% of female patients had the diagnosis of acute pulpitis while 37.14% of male patients had acute pulpitis, however, this difference was not statistically significant. Regarding the age group, it was found that 55.56% of older adults had acute pulpitis, this proportion was higher compared to the rest of the participants, this result was not statistically significant. CONCLUSIONS: Since no statistically significant differences were found in the prevalence of pulpitis according to sex, we rejected the alternative hypothesis and accepted the null hypothesis.

OBJETIVO: Establecer la diferencia de pulpitis aguda en pacientes adultos según sexo del centro de salud 1-4 San Juan de Miraflores. MÉTODO: Se realizó una investigación de tipo cuantitativo, no experimental, transversal comparativo. De una población total de 7500 pacientes, basado en el registro de atenciones del 2023 del consultorio de Odontología del centro de salud I-4 San Juan de Miraflores, se tomó una muestra de 310 pacientes, el cálculo muestral se obtuvo utilizando el programa Epidat V4.1, se utilizó la fórmula para calcular tamaño de muestra para poblaciones finitas. En donde se utilizó un nivel de confianza del 95%, un margen de error del 5% y una prevalencia esperada del 30.00%. RESULTADOS: Se encontró que el 32.96% de pacientes femeninas tenía el diagnóstico de pulpitis aguda mientras que el 37.14% de pacientes masculinos presentó pulpitis aguda, sin embargo, esta diferencia no fue estadísticamente significativa. En cuanto al grupo etario se encontró que el 55.56%, de adultos mayores presentaron pulpitis aguda, esta proporción fue mayor comparada al resto de participantes, este resultado no fue estadísticamente significativo. CONCLUSIONES: Debido a que no se encontró diferencias estadísticamente significativas en la prevalencia de pulpitis según el sexo, rechazamos la hipótesis alterna y aceptamos la hipótesis nula.
