Myrciaria dubia "camu-camu" is a fruit of great economic interest for our region and our country, because it holds various substances of great interest to human health with application in the pharmaceutical industry. One of the highlights of this plant in the world is the high content of vitamin C it keeps. Nevertheless, very little is known about the mechanisms that regulate its biosynthesis and recycling and thus the accumulation of this vitamin in the plants. Therefore, the aim of this research was to compare the catalytic activity of enzymes of the Halliwell-Asada pathway between plants of M. dubia that produce fruits with high and low contents of vitamin C. Unripe fruits of M. dubia were obtained from the germplasm collection of "camu-camu" at the National Institute of Agrarian Innovation in Iquitos. Total proteins were extracted and quantified by the Bradford method and the catalytic activity of the enzymes of the Halliwell-Asada pathway were measured with standard methods using two biological replicates and two technical replicates. All enzymes of the Halliwell-Asada pathway showed catalytic activity in skin and pulp of M. dubia. Ascorbate peroxidase showed higher catalytic activity in fruits with low content of vitamin C, with a significant difference only in pulp (F = 6,4; gl = 3, P = 0,05). While Monodehydreascorbate reductase, Dehydreascorbate reductase and Glutathione reductase showed higher catalytic activity in fruits with high content of vitamin C. In conclusion, the differences in the content of vitamin C in M. dubia, are attributed in part to the variable catalytic activity of the enzyme of the Halliwell-Asada pathway, particularly with enzymes Monodehydreascorbate reductase, Dehydreascorbate reductase and Glutathion reductase.en_US
