Abstract

All vascular epiphytes present in 90 phorophytes with DBH ≥ 10 cm were registered and taxonomically identified; for the census every phorophyte was divided vertically into 3 zones: Zone 1: 0 m-2 m (Z1), Zone 2: 2 m to the first branch (Z2) and zone 3: the crown (Z3). The results show a total of 153 individuals of vascular epiphytes, belonging to 45 species, 16 genera and 2 botanical families. Z3 is the phorophyte area with more richness of species with 42 individuals of Bromeliaceae and 40 individuals of Orchidaceae and the preferred height of epiphytes was 0 m to 9,9 m and 10 m to 19,9 m, respectively. Tillandsia paraensis attained the highest IVIe of 10,93% in Bromeliaceae and Epidendrum nocturnum attained the highest IVIe of 11,52% in Orchidaceae. The ecological Margalef diversity index was 5,622 in the Bromeliaceae family and 4,324 in the Orchidaceae family.
