Abstract
Induction of labor implies the artificial initiation of uterine contractions after the period of viability for the purpose of vaginal delivery, it is indicated when the continuation of the pregnancy puts the life of the mother or the fetus at risk. Intravaginal misoprostol is an effective agent for induction of labor and cervical ripening at term, compared to other methods of induction of labor. However, the complications of using misoprostol for induction of labor have sparked frequent debate due to its use. Some studies showed that its use produces some maternalfetal complications which include uterine tachycardia, systole syndrome or hyperstimulation, uterine rupture, need for instrumental vaginal delivery or caesarean section, low Apgar scores. Therefore, the present work seeks to present data on such a situation, showing that the use of misoprostol has allowed us to observe whether maternal perinatal complications occur and thus reduce induction failures and thus the rate of cesarean sections.
