Conocimiento y actitud hacia el dispositivo intrauterino en mujeres en edad fértil del caserío Rumococha Iquitos 2023

Abstract

The objective of the study was to evaluate the relationship between the level of knowledge and the attitude toward the intrauterine device (IUD) among women of reproductive age in the Rumococha Settlement, Iquitos – 2023. A quantitative, non-experimental, cross-sectional, and correlational study was conducted. The sample consisted of 127 women aged 15 to 49 years, selected according to established inclusion and exclusion criteria. Data were collected using a knowledge questionnaire on the IUD (Validity 93.3% and Reliability 91.0%) and an attitude scale toward the IUD (Validity 93.3% and Reliability 90%). The results showed that 79.5% of the women had an incorrect level of knowledge about the IUD, while 85.8% expressed a negative attitude. Statistical analysis using the Chi-square test revealed a significant association between knowledge and attitude toward the IUD (X² = 60.295; p = 0.000). It is therefore concluded that there is a need to strengthen sexual and reproductive education through health services, promoting clear, accessible, and culturally relevant information about contraceptive methods such as the IUD.

El objetivo del estudio fue evaluar la relación entre el nivel de conocimiento y la actitud hacia el dispositivo intrauterino (DIU) en mujeres en edad fértil del caserío Rumococha, Iquitos – 2023. Se realizó un estudio cuantitativo, de diseño no experimental, transversal y correlacional. La muestra estuvo conformada por 127 mujeres entre 15 y 49 años, seleccionadas según criterios de inclusión y exclusión establecidos. La recolección de datos se realizó mediante un cuestionario de conocimiento sobre el DIU (Validez 93,3% y confiabilidad 91,0%), y una escala de actitudes hacia el DIU (Validez 93,3% y Confiabilidad 90%). Los resultados mostraron que el 79,5% de las mujeres tenía un nivel de conocimiento incorrecto sobre el DIU, mientras que el 85,8% expresó una actitud negativa. El análisis estadístico mediante la prueba Chi cuadrado arrojó una asociación significativa entre conocimiento y actitud hacia el DIU (X²=60,295; p=0,000). Por lo que se concluye, en la necesidad de fortalecer la educación sexual y reproductiva desde los servicios de salud, promoviendo información clara, accesible y culturalmente pertinente sobre métodos anticonceptivos como el DIU.
