Conocimiento ecológico tradicional y manejo sostenible del bosque en Puerto Almendra, distrito de San Juan Bautista, Loreto, 2025

Abstract

The present study was conducted in the rural community of Puerto Almendra, located in the San Juan Bautista District, with the objective of assessing how Traditional Ecological Knowledge (TEK) can contribute to sustainable forest management in Puerto Almendra. The findings indicate that the municipal representative (F1) emphasizes that the forest constitutes an essential component of the community's livelihood and future. The neighborhood leader (F2) states that community-based forest management requires strong social organization, effective coordination with public institutions, and support from universities and private organizations. Another neighborhood leader (F3) concludes that the forest is a vital natural heritage that must be managed responsibly by integrating traditional knowledge with modern scientific approaches. Farmer (F4) concludes that both the forest and agricultural fields (chacras) are invaluable assets that should be managed responsibly. Farmer (F5) indicates that the forest and chacras are inseparable components of rural livelihoods and must be conserved responsibly. Farmer (F6) states that forests are cleared because local people have no alternative means of subsistence. Farmer (F7) concludes that the forest is fundamental to community well-being; however, poverty and insufficient institutional support constrain its conservation. Forest resource extractor (F8) points out that forest resources are finite and therefore require responsible management. Teacher (F9) emphasizes that the forest is the basis of daily subsistence and should be conserved through responsible management.

El presente estudio, se ha desarrollado en el centro poblado de Puerto Almendra, distrito de San Juan Bautista, con el propósito de evaluar cómo el conocimiento ecológico tradicional puede contribuir al manejo sostenible del bosque en Puerto Almendra. De los resultados obtenidos se tiene que el agente municipal (F1) enfatiza que el bosque es parte de la vida y del futuro de la comunidad. El dirigente vecinal (F2) señala que la gestión forestal comunitaria requiere organización social, coordinación con instituciones y apoyo de universidades y organizaciones privadas. El dirigente vecinal (F3), concluye que el bosque es patrimonio vital y debe cuidarse con responsabilidad, integrando saberes tradicionales con ciencia moderna. El agricultor (F4) concluye que el bosque y la chacra son patrimonio vital y deben manejarse con responsabilidad. El agricultor (F5) señala que el bosque y chacra son inseparables y deben cuidarse con responsabilidad. El agricultor (F6), manifiesta que el bosque se tumba porque no hay otra opción para sobrevivir. El agricultor (F7) concluye que el bosque es esencial para la vida comunitaria, pero la pobreza y la falta de apoyo limitan su cuidado. El extractor (F8) señala que el bosque es finito y debe manejarse con responsabilidad. El extractor (F9), manifiesta que el bosque es el sustento diario y debe cuidarse con responsabilidad.
