Efecto del cepillado con y sin pasta dental en la higiene oral de estudiantes de odontología, según sexo, de la UNAP, Iquitos 2025

Abstract

The final report had the general objective of determining whether there is a difference in the effect of brushing with and without toothpaste on the oral hygiene of dental students at UNAP. Conducted using a quantitative approach with an experimental, longitudinal, and correlational design, the study population consisted of 103 students. The IHO-S questionnaire and academic records were used for data collection. The results showed that the study population was primarily composed of young students aged 19 to 21, with a higher concentration of women in advanced semesters (sixth semester). Furthermore, both men (29.1%) and women (33.0%) participated more frequently in the group that brushed with toothpaste, demonstrating a preference for this method in both sexes. Regarding the initial level of oral hygiene (pre-test), the group that used toothpaste predominantly had a regular level of hygiene (35.0%). In contrast, 20.4% of the group that did not use toothpaste presented good hygiene.

El informe final, tuvo como objetivo general: Determinar si existe diferencia en el efecto del cepillado con y sin pasta dental sobre la higiene oral de los estudiantes de odontología, de la UNAP. Realizado bajo un enfoque cuantitativo, con un diseño experimental, Longitudinal y correlacional, se ha tomado a 103 estudiantes como población, aplicando un el cuestionario de IHO-Sy registros académicos. Los resultados demostraron que, la población de estudio se caracterizó principalmente por estudiantes jóvenes de 19 a 21 años, con mayor concentración de mujeres en ciclos avanzados (VI ciclo). Además, tanto varones (29,1%) como mujeres (33,0%) participaron en mayor proporción en el grupo de cepillado con pasta dental, evidenciando preferencia por esta modalidad en ambos sexos. En cuanto al nivel de higiene oral inicial (pre-test), en el grupo que utilizó pasta dental predominó el nivel de higiene regular 35,0%. Por su parte, en el grupo que no utilizó pasta dental, el 20,4% presentó una higiene buena.
