Impacto del turismo receptivo en el crecimiento económico de Loreto, periodo 2018 – 2022

Abstract

The main objective of this thesis is to determine the influence of inbound tourism on the economic growth of the Loreto region during the period 2018 2022. A descriptive-correlational approach was used with a non-experimental design, based on the collection and analysis of secondary data from official sources such as the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (MINCETUR), the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI), the Central Reserve Bank of Peru (BCRP) and PromPerú. This methodology allowed us to study the variations in the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of Loreto and the behavior of the arrivals of national and foreign tourists during said period. The study reveals that, although Loreto's GDP grew on average by 1%, domestic tourist arrivals decreased by 5% and foreign tourist arrivals by 7%. Despite fluctuations in inbound tourism, correlation tests indicated that neither domestic nor foreign tourists had a significant impact on the region's economic growth. National tourism represented 73% of arrivals and international tourism 27%, but there was no relevant correlation with GDP. The causes could be the lack of diversification of tourism markets, low spending by tourists and limited infrastructure. The study suggests the need for public policies focused on improving infrastructure and increasing tourism spending to encourage greater economic growth.

La presente tesis tiene como objetivo principal determinar la influencia del turismo receptivo en el crecimiento económico de la región Loreto durante el periodo 2018-2022. Se utilizó un enfoque descriptivo-correlacional con un diseño no experimental, basándose en la recolección y análisis de datos secundarios provenientes de fuentes oficiales como el Ministerio de Comercio Exterior y Turismo (MINCETUR), el Instituto Nacional de Estadística e Informática (INEI), el Banco Central de Reserva del Perú (BCRP) y PromPerú. Esta metodología permitió estudiar las variaciones en el Producto Bruto Interno (PBI) de Loreto y el comportamiento de los arribos de turistas nacionales y extranjeros durante dicho periodo. El estudio revela que, aunque el PBI de Loreto creció en promedio un 1%, los arribos de turistas nacionales disminuyeron un 5% y los de extranjeros un 7%. A pesar de las fluctuaciones en el turismo receptivo, las pruebas de correlación indicaron que ni los turistas nacionales ni los extranjeros tuvieron un impacto significativo en el crecimiento económico de la región. El turismo nacional representó el 73% de las llegadas y el internacional el 27%, pero no hubo una correlación relevante con el PBI. Las causas podrían ser la poca diversificación de los mercados turísticos, el bajo gasto de los turistas y la infraestructura limitada. El estudio sugiere la necesidad de políticas públicas enfocadas en mejorar la infraestructura y aumentar el gasto turístico para fomentar un mayor crecimiento económico.
