Conocimiento y cuidado materno en menores de 5 años con infecciones respiratorias agudas atendidos en el establecimiento de salud 6 de octubre Iquitos 2023

Abstract

The objective was to determine the relationship between maternal knowledge and care, during Acute Respiratory Infections in children under 5 years of age, treated at the 6 de Octubre health facility, Iquitos 2023. This study was quantitative, non-experimental, descriptive, cross-sectional and correlational; The population was made up of 65 mothers. The survey was used as a technique and instruments: an ARI Knowledge Questionnaire (81.25% validity and 81.39% reliability) and a Maternal Care Questionnaire (83.75% validity and 80.37% reliability). The results were: maternal age (X±S 30.3±7.2); marital status cohabiting 76.9%, single 20.0%, married 3.1%; secondary education 72.3%, primary 16.9%, technical 7.7% and higher 3.1%; independent employment 56.9%, housewives 35.4%, student 6.2% and dependent 1.5%; 29.2% had 2 children, 21.5% had 1 child, 21.5% had 4 children, 15.5% had 15.5% and 12.3% had 3 children. Ages of the child: from 2 to 5 years 46.2%, 13 to 24 months 26.2%, 0 to 6 months 15.4% and from 7 to 12 months 12.3%; 64.6% were male and 35.4% female; 89.2% fell ill 1 to 3 times and 10.8% did not occur at all; 69.2% complete vaccination and 30.8% incomplete. Regarding maternal knowledge about ARI, 63.1% was medium, 29.2% low and 7.7% high; incorrect maternal care during ARI 80.0% and correct 20.0%. When correlating both variables, it was obtained (p = 0.001 < 0.05). Concluding that there is significance between maternal knowledge and care during ARI in children under 5 years of age, treated at the 6 de Octubre health facility.

El objetivo fue determinar la relación entre el conocimiento y cuidado materno, durante Infecciones Respiratorias Agudas en menores de 5 años, atendidos en el establecimiento de salud 6 de Octubre, Iquitos 2023. Estudio de tipo cuantitativo, no experimental, descriptivo, transversal y correlacional; la población estuvo conformada por 65 madres. Se emplearon la encuesta como técnica e instrumentos un Cuestionario de conocimiento sobre IRA (validez 81,25% y confiabilidad 81,39%) y Cuestionario de Cuidado materno (validez 83,75% y confiabilidad 80,37%). Los resultados fueron: edad materna (𝑿 ̅ ± 𝑺 30,3 ±7,2); estado civil conviviente 76,9%, soltera 20,0%, casada 3,1%; grado de instrucción secundaria 72,3%, primaria 16,9%, técnica 7,7% y superior 3,1%; ocupación independiente 56,9%, amas de casa 35,4%, estudiante 6,2% y dependiente 1,5%; con 2 hijos 29,2%, 1 hijo 21,5%, 4 hijos 21,5%, de 5 a más 15,5%, con 3 hijos 12,3%. Edades del niño: de 2 a 5 años 46,2%, 13 a 24 meses 26,2%, 0 a 6 meses 15,4% y de 7 a 12 meses 12,3%; sexo masculino 64,6% y femenino 35,4%; enfermó de 1 a 3 veces 89,2% y ninguna vez 10,8%; vacunación completa 69,2% e incompleta 30,8%. Respecto al conocimiento materno sobre IRA, 63,1% fue medio, 29,2% bajo y 7,7% alto; cuidado materno incorrecto durante IRA 80,0% y correcto 20,0%. Al correlacionar ambas variables se obtuvo (p = 0,001 < 0.05). Concluyendo, que existe significancia entre conocimiento y cuidado materno durante IRA, en menores de 5 años, atendidos en el establecimiento de salud 6 de Octubre.
