Abstract
This research aimed to determine the relationship between private sector employment and economic activity in the Loreto region from 2015 to 2024. In a context where growth theories maintain that higher levels of economic activity lead to greater labor demand, this study allows us to compare this premise with regional evidence. The descriptive results show that private sector employment in the Loreto region exhibited a general growth trend during the 2015-2024 period, although with fluctuations associated with economic and cyclical factors. Furthermore, the economic activity of the Loreto region showed an upward trend during the analyzed period, registering an average quarterly GVA of S/ 2,218 million and an average year-on-year growth rate of 2.36%. This growth was primarily driven by the service sector, which accounts for more than 60% of the total. In the inferential analysis, a direct, positive and statistically significant relationship was found between the variables, with a correlation coefficient of 0.8263, indicating a strong association.
