Impacto del control vectorial de Aedes aegypti en la ciudad de Nauta, Loreto, 2024

Abstract

This study evaluated the impact of Aedes aegypti vector control in the city of Nauta, Loreto, in 2024. A quantitative, descriptive approach was applied. Data collection was carried out in six sectors of the city of Nauta, before and after the implementation of vector control actions (focal treatment and home visits). The three main entomological indices were used as indicators: aedes index (AI), Breteau index (BI), and positive container index (PI). Samples were collected through aedes surveys, according to the Ministry of Health Surveillance protocol. Data analysis was performed using descriptive statistics and significance tests such as Shapiro-Wilk and Student's t-tests to compare the values obtained in both stages. The results showed a reduction in the values of the three entomological indices evaluated after vector control: the aedico index decreased from 17.8 to 13.6, the Breteau index from 27.9 to 20.9, and the container index from 3.2 to 2.1. Vector control intervention coverage reached 88.90%, a value considered adequate by PAHO, although slightly lower than the minimum established by the Technical Health Standard. Although the observed differences were not statistically significant, a favorable trend toward reducing vector density was evident, suggesting a positive impact with the potential for strengthening through sustained and complementary strategies.

El presente estudio evaluó el impacto del control vectorial de Aedes aegypti en la ciudad de Nauta, Loreto, 2024. Se aplicó un enfoque cuantitativo, descriptivo. La recolección de datos se realizó en seis sectores de la ciudad de Nauta, antes y después de la ejecución de las acciones de control vectorial (tratamiento focal y visitas domiciliarias). Se utilizaron como indicadores los tres principales índices entomológicos: índice aèdico (IA), índice de Breteau (IB) e índice de recipientes positivos (IP). Las muestras se recogieron mediante encuestas aèdicas, según el protocolo de Vigilancia del Ministerio de Salud. El análisis de datos se realizó mediante estadística descriptiva y pruebas de significancia como Shapiro Wilk y prueba estadística t de Student, para comparar los valores obtenidos en ambas etapas. Los resultados mostraron una reducción en los valores de los tres índices entomológicos evaluados luego del control vectorial: Índice aedico disminuyó de 17,8 a 13,6, el índice de Breteau de 27,9 a 20,9 y el índice de recipientes de 3,2 a 2,1. La cobertura de intervención de control vectorial alcanzó un 88.90%, valor considerado adecuado para la OPS, aunque ligeramente inferior al mínimo establecido por la Norma Técnica de Salud. Si bien las diferencias observadas no fueron estadísticamente significativas se evidenció una tendencia favorable a la reducción de la densidad del vector, lo que sugiere un impacto positivo con potencial de fortalecimiento a través de estrategias sostenidas y complementarias.
