Relación entre el crecimiento de la oferta de alojamientos turísticos y el incremento del flujo turístico en la ciudad de Iquitos durante el periodo 2018 2023

Abstract

This research analyzes the relationship between the growth of tourist accommodation supply and the increase in tourist flow in the city of Iquitos during the period 2018–2023. A quantitative approach was used, with a non experimental, correlational, and longitudinal design, employing secondary data from official sources. The population consisted of all registered tourist accommodations and the national and international tourists who arrived in Iquitos during the study period, according to records from MINCETUR and GERCETURA LORETO. The analysis included descriptive measures and Spearman’s correlation test. The results show that, although the growth of accommodations and tourist flow was not linear, both presented a generally positive trend in the post-pandemic period. The correlation between the number of registered accommodations and the total number of tourists was moderate and positive (ρ = 0.771), although not statistically significant at the 5% level (p = 0.072), suggesting a favorable association between the two variables, without being able to confirm it rigorously due to the small sample size. Consequently, the general hypothesis is partially validated, and the need for tourism planning policies that consider the dynamic relationship between supply and infrastructure is highlighted.La presente investigación analiza la relación entre el crecimiento de la oferta de alojamientos turísticos y el incremento del flujo turístico en la ciudad de Iquitos durante el periodo 2018–2023. Se empleó un enfoque cuantitativo, con diseño no experimental, correlacional y longitudinal, utilizando datos secundarios provenientes de fuentes oficiales. La población estuvo conformada por todos los alojamientos turísticos registrados y los turistas (nacionales y extranjeros) que arribaron a Iquitos en el periodo de estudio, según registros de MINCETUR y GERCETURA LORETO. El análisis incluyó medidas descriptivas y la prueba de correlación de Spearman. Los resultados muestran que, si bien el crecimiento de alojamientos y el flujo turístico no fueron lineales, ambos presentan una tendencia general positiva en el periodo post-pandémico. La correlación entre el número de alojamientos registrados y el total de turistas fue moderada y positiva (ρ = 0.771), aunque no estadísticamente significativa al 5 % (p = 0.072), lo cual sugiere una asociación favorable entre ambas variables, sin poder confirmarla con rigor estadístico debido al tamaño muestral. En consecuencia, se valida parcialmente la hipótesis general y se destaca la necesidad de políticas de planificación turística que consideren la relación dinámica entre oferta e infraestructura.
