Alimentación y anemia en niños hospitalizados menores de 1 año en un Hospital de EsSalud Punchana 2023

Abstract

The research aimed to determine if there is a relationship between nutrition and anemia in hospitalized children under 1 year old at an EsSalud hospital in Punchana 2023. The study was quantitative with a non-experimental, descriptive, correlational, cross-sectional design. The study sample consisted of 35 children aged 6 to 11 months hospitalized in the pediatrics department of the III EsSalud hospital and their mothers, during the year 2023. Two instruments were applied: a questionnaire to assess the child's nutrition and a record sheet to identify the hospitalized child with anemia. The results highlight that 74.3% of children aged 6 to 11 months and 29 days hospitalized with anemia, 48.6% had an unhealthy diet. Likewise, it is observed that 25.7% did not have anemia, of which 20.0% had a healthy diet. An association was found by applying the non-parametric chi-square statistical test, estimating a p-value of 0.005, indicating a statistical relationship between complementary feeding and anemia. 48.6% of the children with anemia are related to inadequate complementary feeding. It is concluded that healthy feeding is related to anemia in the dimension of complementary feeding. Regarding responsive feeding, no relationship with anemia was evidenced in children under 1 year of age. This underscores the importance of continuing interventions for the prevention and control of anemia in hospitalized infants.

La investigación tuvo como objetivo determinar si existe relación entre alimentación y anemia en niños hospitalizados menores de 1 año en un hospital de EsSalud Punchana 2023. El estudio fue tipo cuantitativo con diseño no experimental, descriptivo, correlacional, transversal. La muestra de estudio lo conformaron 35 niños de 6 a 11 meses hospitalizados en el servicio de pediatría del hospital III EsSalud y sus madres, durante el año 2023. Se aplicó dos instrumentos: Un cuestionario para evaluar la alimentación del niño y la ficha de registro para identificar al niño hospitalizado con anemia. Resaltan los resultados del 74,3% de niños de 6 a 11 meses, 29 días hospitalizados con anemia, el 48,6% presentaron alimentación no saludable. Asimismo, se observa que el 25,7% no tuvieron anemia de los cuales el 20,0% de ellos la alimentación fue saludable. Se encontró asociación al aplicar la prueba estadística no paramétrica de chi cuadrado estimando un valor p=0,005, es decir existe relación estadística entre la alimentación complementaria y la anemia, el 48,6% de los niños con anemia están relacionados con la no adecuada alimentación complementaria. Se concluye que la alimentación saludable está relacionada con anemia en la dimensión alimentación complementaria. Respecto a la alimentación responsiva, no se evidenció relación con la anemia en niños menores de 1 año de edad. Lo que subraya la importancia de continuar con las intervenciones para la prevención y control de la anemia en lactantes hospitalizados.
