Relación entre el tipo de cambio y las exportaciones de madera de la región Loreto durante el periodo 2021–2024

Abstract

The present study aimed to determine the relationship between the exchange rate and timber exports in the Loreto region during the period 2021–2024. The research was conducted under a quantitative approach, of an applied type, with a correlational level and a non-experimental, longitudinal design, based on the analysis of time series data without manipulation of the study variables. The population and sample consisted of 48 monthly observations of the average nominal exchange rate (PEN/USD) published by the Central Reserve Bank of Peru and the monthly timber export records of the Loreto region (USD FOB) obtained from the National Superintendence of Customs and Tax Administration. Microsoft Excel and the SPSS statistical software were used for data processing and analysis. The Shapiro–Wilk normality test indicated that the variables do not follow a normal distribution (p < 0.05); therefore, the Spearman’s Rho correlation coefficient was applied. The results revealed a fluctuating behavior of the nominal exchange rate, with monthly values ranging between S/ 3.61 and S/ 4.11, as well as high volatility in timber exports, whose amounts ranged between USD 7,693.85 and USD 248,581.24. Furthermore, the correlational analysis showed the existence of a statistically significant, positive, and low to moderate intensity relationship between both variables (ρ = 0.374; p = 0.009). It is concluded that the nominal exchange rate is significantly associated with the export performance of the timber sector in the Loreto region during the analyzed period.

La presente investigación tuvo como objetivo general determinar la relación entre el tipo de cambio y las exportaciones de madera de la región Loreto durante el periodo 2021–2024. El estudio se desarrolló bajo un enfoque cuantitativo, de tipo aplicado, con nivel correlacional y diseño no experimental, longitudinal, basado en el análisis de series temporales sin manipulación de las variables. La población y muestra estuvieron conformadas por 48 observaciones mensuales del tipo de cambio nominal promedio (PEN/USD) publicado por el Banco Central de Reserva del Perú y de las exportaciones de madera de la región Loreto (USD FOB) registradas por la Superintendencia Nacional de Aduanas y de Administración Tributaria. Para el análisis de los datos se emplearon Microsoft Excel y el software estadístico SPSS. La prueba de normalidad de Shapiro-Wilk evidenció que las variables no presentan una distribución normal (p < 0.05), por lo que se utilizó el coeficiente de correlación Rho de Spearman. Los resultados evidenciaron un comportamiento fluctuante del tipo de cambio nominal, con valores mensuales entre S/ 3.61 y S/ 4.11, así como una alta volatilidad en las exportaciones de madera, cuyos montos oscilaron entre USD 7,693.85 y USD 248,581.24. Asimismo, el análisis correlacional mostró la existencia de una relación estadísticamente significativa, positiva y de intensidad baja a moderada entre ambas variables (ρ = 0.374; p = 0.009). Se concluye que el tipo de cambio nominal se asocia de manera significativa con el comportamiento exportador del sector maderero de la región Loreto durante el periodo analizado.
