Comportamiento histórico del nivel del río Amazonas en Iquitos, 2025

Abstract

The present research, conducted this year, aims to determine whether there are variations in the water level data of the Amazon River in Iquitos, using data from the 20th century (1981–2000) and the 21st century (2001–2020). The study was retrospective, descriptive, and relational. The descriptive analysis shows the temporal stability and homogeneity of the hydrological series. The complete data with a mean of 83.1709 m, Coefficient of Variation (CV) of 3.35%, indicating relatively low and consistent variability. The comparison between the first twenty-year period (1981 2000, μ=83.2645 m, CV=3.27%) and the second twenty-year period (2001-2020, μ=83.0772 m, CV=3.43%) shows minimal differences, with a mean difference of only 0.1874 m, representing less than 0.23% relative variation. In the comparative study by five-year periods, with complete data, the correlation weakens, which confirms that opposing patterns between twenties offset each other. In contrast, in the 21st century, it shows contrasting behaviors, with a perfectly negative temporal correlation. The cross-correlation does not show significant statistical significance, and the reversal of patterns indicates changes in the hydrological dynamics of the system, with the significantly decreasing trend of the first decades reversing in the following decades, showing an increasing trend, but it is not statistically significant.

La investigación desarrollada en el presente año, a fin de determinar si existen variaciones en los datos de nivel del río Amazonas en Iquitos, con datos históricos del siglo XX (1981 – 2000) y, siglo XXI (2001 – 2020), cuya investigación fue retroactiva, descriptiva y relacional. El análisis descriptivo, evidencia la estabilidad temporal y homogeneidad de la serie hidrológica. Los datos completos con media de 83.1709 m, Coeficiente de Variación (CV) de 3.35%, indicando una variabilidad relativamente baja y consistente. La comparación entre la primera veintena (1981 2000, μ=83.2645 m, CV=3.27%) y la segunda veintena (2001-2020, μ=83.0772 m, CV=3.43%) muestra diferencias mínimas, con una diferencia de medias de apenas 0.1874 m, lo que representa menos del 0.23% de variación relativa. En el estudio comparativo por quinquenios, datos completos, la correlación se debilita, lo que confirma patrones opuestos entre veintenas se compensan mutuamente. En cambio, en el siglo XXI, evidencia comportamientos contrastantes, correlación temporal negativa perfecta. La correlación cruzada, no presenta significancia estadística significativa, cuya inversión de patrones indica cambios en la dinámica hidrológica del sistema, cuya tendencia decreciente significativa de las primeras décadas se revierten en las siguientes décadas, tendencia creciente, pero, no son significativas estadísticamente.
