Carbón vegetal en la dieta y su efecto en la salud digestiva y parámetros productivos del pollo Cobb 500 en Zúngarococha

Abstract

The present research evaluated the effect of the inclusion of charcoal in the diet on the digestive health and productive parameters of the Cobb 500 broiler chicken, in tropical conditions of Zúngarococha, Loreto. This natural additive has been proposed as a viable alternative to synthetic promoters, due to its adsorbent capacity and benefits on the intestinal microbiota. The general objective was to determine how charcoal influences stool consistency, presence of diarrhea, final weight, weight gain, conversion and feed efficiency. A fully randomized design was employed with five treatments (0%, 0.5%, 1%, 1.5%, and 2%) and four replications each, using 120 Cobb 500 chickens. Statistical analysis included ANOVA and Tukey's test to identify significant differences. The results showed that charcoal significantly improved stool consistency, with better responses on T2 treatment (1%). No cases of diarrhea were reported in either group. In terms of production parameters, T4 (2%) achieved the highest final weight (2190 g), the best weight gain (1562 g), and the best feed conversion (2.31). Feed efficiency was also higher in treatments with higher doses. It is concluded that the inclusion of 1.5% to 2% charcoal improves productive performance, while a dose of 1% optimizes digestive health. Its practical use in local poultry systems and future studies exploring its combination with other natural additives, as well as its application in improved landraces, is recommended.

La presente investigación evaluó el efecto de la inclusión de carbón vegetal en la dieta sobre la salud digestiva y los parámetros productivos del pollo de engorde Cobb 500, en condiciones tropicales de Zúngarococha, Loreto. Este aditivo natural se ha propuesto como una alternativa viable a promotores sintéticos, por su capacidad adsorbente y beneficios sobre la microbiota intestinal. El objetivo general fue determinar cómo influye el carbón vegetal en la consistencia de heces, presencia de diarreas, peso final, ganancia de peso, conversión y eficiencia alimenticia. Se empleó un diseño completamente aleatorizado con cinco tratamientos (0%, 0.5%, 1%, 1.5% y 2%) y cuatro repeticiones cada uno, utilizando 120 pollos Cobb 500. El análisis estadístico incluyó ANOVA y prueba de Tukey para identificar diferencias significativas. Los resultados demostraron que el carbón vegetal mejoró significativamente la consistencia de las heces, con mejores respuestas en el tratamiento T2 (1%). No se reportaron casos de diarrea en ninguno de los grupos. En cuanto a parámetros productivos, T4 (2%) alcanzó el mayor peso final (2190 g), mejor ganancia de peso (1562 g), y la mejor conversión alimenticia (2.31). La eficiencia alimenticia también fue superior en los tratamientos con mayores dosis. Se concluye que la inclusión de 1.5% a 2% de carbón vegetal mejora el rendimiento productivo, mientras que una dosis del 1% optimiza la salud digestiva. Se recomienda su uso práctico en sistemas avícolas locales y estudios futuros que exploren su combinación con otros aditivos naturales, así como su aplicación en aves criollas mejoradas.
