Abstract

The research took place at the San Roque Agricultural Experimental Station, belonging to the National Institute of Agrarian Innovation (INIA), which is located in the district of San Juan Bautista, within the province of Maynas, in the department of Loreto. The objective was to determine the appropriate height to obtain quality plants in the nursery of Theobroma cacao L., C.E. “San Roque” - INIA, Loreto, 2023. As a result, that the ratio of aerial part and radical part was 6.182, at a height of 60 cm, the robustness index, the best significant ratio was 5.516, at a height of 60 cm, the lignification index there is no evidence that modifying the height of the plant positively affects this variable in particular, and regarding the Dickson quality index the best significant relationship was 1.172, at a height of 60 cm. For selection of cocoa plants in the nursery that will be used in the definitive field, those that have reached 50 cm in height are recommended because these do not present significant differences with the 60 cm plants in the studied indices except for robustness and, in turn, they spend less time in the nursery.
