Abstract

A descriptive, non-experimental, cross-sectional study characterized the feeding, habitat, and health conditions that impact the well-being of captive felines in Quistococha Tourist Park. Convenience sampling was used with 10 Amazonian felines and 5 staff members responsible for their care. Systematic direct observation and semi-structured interviews were conducted; the instruments were validated (Cronbach's alpha = 0.757). Descriptive statistics, the Shapiro-Wilk test, and Spearman's correlation coefficient were used. The results show that the assessed conditions directly impact the felines' well-being. There have been improvements in feeding and emergency medical care, but deficiencies persist in the health plan and enclosure design. Staff consider the diet adequate in terms of frequency and quality, although nutritional differences are detected between individuals, suggesting the need for individualized dietary monitoring. The facilities offer acceptable cleanliness, shade, and shelter, but have limited space and structural safety, which impairs natural behavior. Although most cats show signs of good health, some show signs of stress or physical deterioration. Implementing environmental enrichment strategies and ongoing behavioral monitoring is recommended. These actions will contribute to sustainably improving the physical, behavioral, and emotional well-being of cats in captivity.Estudio descriptivo, de diseño no experimental y transversal, que caracteriza las condiciones de alimentación, hábitat y salud que inciden en el bienestar de felinos en cautiverio del Parque Turístico Quistococha. Se empleó el muestreo por conveniencia con 10 felinos amazónicos y 5 trabajadores responsables de su manejo. Se aplicaron observación directa sistemática y entrevistas semiestructuradas; los instrumentos fueron validados (alfa de Cronbach = 0.757). Se utilizó estadística descriptiva, prueba de Shapiro-Wilk y correlación de Spearman. Los resultados muestran que las condiciones evaluadas inciden directamente en el bienestar de los felinos. Hay mejoras en la alimentación y atención médica de emergencia, pero persisten deficiencias en el plan sanitario y el diseño de recintos. El personal considera adecuada la dieta en frecuencia y calidad, aunque se detectan diferencias nutricionales entre ejemplares, lo que sugiere la necesidad de controles dietéticos individualizados. Las instalaciones ofrecen limpieza, sombra y refugio aceptables, pero presentan limitaciones de espacio y seguridad estructural, afectando el comportamiento natural. Aunque la mayoría de los felinos presenta signos de buena salud, algunos evidencian estrés o deterioro físico. Se recomienda implementar estrategias de enriquecimiento ambiental y monitoreo conductual continuo. Estas acciones contribuirán a mejorar sosteniblemente el bienestar físico, conductual y emocional de los felinos en cautiverio.
