Abstract

The general objective of this study was to determine the relationship between environmental education and environmental attitude in fifth-grade secondary school students at the Simón Bolívar Educational Institution. The research followed a quantitative approach, with a non-experimental, cross-sectional, and correlational design. The population consisted of 168 students, from which a sample of 78 was selected. Two instruments were used for data collection: a questionnaire to measure the level of environmental education and a Likert-type scale to assess environmental attitude across its cognitive, affective, and behavioral dimensions. The results show that 97.4% of the students reached medium and high levels in environmental education; similarly, 93.6% achieved medium and high levels in environmental attitude. Statistical analysis using Spearman's rho yielded ρ = 0.440 with a bilateral significance of p = 0.000, demonstrating a positive and statistically significant relationship between both variables. It is concluded that students with higher environmental education tend to show more favorable attitudes toward environmental care, thus confirming the proposed hypothesis.
