Abstract
This research aimed to evaluate the effect of a volleyball fundamentals educational program on improving the coordination skills of first-year secondary school students at Educational Institution No. 60188 Simón Bolívar, Iquitos, during 2023. The study employed a quantitative, applied, and quasi-experimental design with pre- and post-tests, utilizing a non-equivalent experimental and control group. The sample consisted of 70 students, divided into an experimental group (n = 35) and a control group (n = 35). The data collection technique was observation, and the instrument used was an observation checklist validated by expert review. Statistical analysis employed the Mann-Whitney U test and Cliff's Delta effect size. The results showed no significant differences between the two groups before the intervention (U = 682.5; p = 0.302). Subsequently, the experimental group showed significantly higher scores in overall coordinative abilities (U = 1138; p < 0.001; δ = 0.4457) and in their basic or general (δ = 0.4612), special (δ = 0.3894), and complex (δ = 0.4245) dimensions, with moderate effect sizes. It is concluded that the educational program on the technical fundamentals of volleyball significantly improves students' coordinative abilities, constituting an effective pedagogical strategy for strengthening motor development and athletic performance in school.
